Japanese magazine Famitsu brings us big news of yet another PSP title that will very likely not make it overseas. Heroes Fantasia is a PSP RPG from a studio called Witch Craft, best known for developing a social network game in Japan for Square Enix. What’s so unique about Heroes Phantasia? The game will feature characters from 10 classic anime titles.
Characters from Blood +, Mai Hime, Rune Soldier, R.O.D Read or Die, Sergeant Frog, s.CRY.ed, Sorcerous Stabber Orphan, Darker than Black: Ryusei no Gemini, Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha, and Slayers Revolution will be making appearances in Heroes Phantasia. At least one of these series should ring a bell for anime fans.
Little else is known about the game at the moment, but apparently it will take place in both the real world (Japan) and a world called Adroas. The game’s battle system will feature turn-based combat with four player parties. We’re assuming your party will be made up of characters from the various anime mentioned, but whether or not the NPCs and story will be completely original or pulled from the anime as well is yet to be seen.
Unfortunately, due to licensing issues, along with the steadily declining appeal of the PSP outside of Japan, it’s highly unlikely we’ll see this game localized.
Heroes Phantasia will be released in Japan sometime this winter.
