obert Bowling and his team at Infinity Ward are pledging to keep Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 patched in a timely fashion, and as frequently as necessary to prevent the same level of hacks, bugs, and exploits that plagued Modern Warfare 2. Bowling, the creative strategist at the Activision-owned developer, gave gamers the news via his Twitter account.
Following the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, developer Infinity Ward attracted millions of angry gamers by failing to patch the issues in a timely fashion. Most hardcore multiplayer veterans of that game remember the infamous Javelin hack, as well as numerous balance problems and other exploits which seeped into all 3 versions of the game, rendering it unplayable for some.
Bowling has taken the feedback under heavy consideration, and has promised “exceptional post-launch support” as well as the best two words a multiplayer developer can utter: “Constant patching.”
While Modern Warfare 3 will certainly continue to break sales records for Activision, it still can’t hurt to start fostering more trust with fans of the franchise, and the devotion to post-launch bug/exploit support – if delivered – definitely goes a long way in not only restoring that trust, but leading to more Day 1 sales.
