Konami releases ‘Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’ boss battle trailer

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is coming to North America in just over a month, and Konami continues to roll out new footage for the hotly-anticipated action title. The latest trailer focuses on the game’s innovative boss battles and features Raiden fighting three cyborgs of the Desperado Enforcement’s “Winds of Destruction” unit, as well as a sneak peak of his battle against Samuel. Of course, be warned that the following trailer contains major spoilers for the game, so don’t watch if you don’t want to know what you’ll be up against come February 19th. The trailer is entirely in Japanese, but the language of revengeance is universal (sorry, we had to).

As you can see from the trailer, Mistral, Monsoon, and Sundowner are both familiar and new at the same time: Mistral can attach additional arms to her body and detach them for use as a whip, while Sundowner is a fairly standard tank character with an interesting four-piece shield. We can all probably agree that Monsoon is the most awe-inducing, as he can separate his body at multiple points to evade Raiden’s blade when necessary, making for some amazing-looking combat. As for Samuel, Konami has done well by keeping his abilities under wraps, but it’s clear that he will use a sword for some intense one-on-one combat with Raiden.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will launch in North America for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on February 19th, with a European launch following on the 22nd.
