‘Mass Effect 3′ dropped from space in marketing stunt
As if Mass Effect 3 could not get any bigger it is now falling from the skies, literally. And no, that is not a reaper ship falling the skies, it is the actual game.
According to a report from Mike Snider of USA Today and ME3’s Facebook page, EA is tying up a number of copies to weather balloons and releasing them into the atmosphere.
These copies will have GPS tracking devices in them and wherever they fall and it will create a free-for-all for possession of the game. They are releasing the copies a week early and near the following cities: New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Berlin, Paris and London.
You can follow the games descent from the heavens on masseffect.com as well as their twitter feed, @masseffect.
The demo from Mass Effect 3 dropped on February 14 and on February 19 there will be a brand new and exclusive trailer making its premiere during AMC’s Walking Dead, which airs Sundays 9 p.m./8 p.m. CT.
Check out the Mass Effect 3 website for a slew of trailers on weapon customization, CO – OP multiplayer, interactive story details and finally some adrenaline popping action shots.
For those of us not near those cities, Mass Effect drops March 6.

Well played, that’s a great idea.
Cool idea …… um will it survive the fall intact enough to play?
best case scenario: the game crashes into your house or business and you get a sweet-ass settlement from EA for property damage. You could probably negotiate to get all EA games for free in perpetuity. Genius move, this.
I’m just waiting for it to kill someone or land in the Atlantic Ocean.
I don’t see how this could end well.
LOL Guess they didn’t account for trees -> http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/02/24/mass-effect-3-stuck-in-a-tree.aspx
