‘Monster Hunter’ is coming to PS Vita in 2012
Last year Nintendo scored a decisive victory when it landed Monster Hunter 4 for the 3DS, a title that still seems exclusive to their handheld. Capcom’s series is massively popular on the PSP in Japan, and its absence on the Vita could be the reason Sony’s latest handheld is experiencing sagging sales there. New hope has emerged for Vita-toting Monster Hunter fans, however, with an interview from Playstation France CEO Phillipe Cardon, where he states that the Vita will get a Monster Hunter title in 2012.
The games available at launch in Japan do not correspond to the typology of the Japanese public. It lacks a particular game, Monster Hunter, scheduled for the coming months.
There is no doubt that someone important at Sony knew the Monster Hunter franchise was critical to the Vita’s success in Japan, and we’re also sure Capcom enjoys making money. While we can only speculate if this will be the proper Monster Hunter 4 (which was announced months ago only for Nintendo’s 3DS), another entry in the Monster Hunter Freedom series, or a completely new iteration, it’s great news for Japanese fans who have held off buying a Vita and certainly a reason for Sony to celebrate, as well.
The PS Vita launches in the US on February 22, 2012.
