New ‘Bioshock Infinite’ trailer probes the mystery of Columbia

Bioshock Infinite promo 300x242 New Bioshock Infinite trailer probes the mystery of ColumbiaThe latest trailer for Bioshock Infinite is an… interesting, let’s say… way to promote the game, which is set for release March 26.

Instead of more skyhooking, Songbird-filled gameplay, Irrational Games released a promo for an 80’s-looking documentary called “Truth from Legend” by Alistar Bloom. It plays a bit like a conspiracy-theory NOVA ad, and asks an interesting question: what do people decades after the events of Bioshock Infinite actually know about Columbia and the events that transpired there?

The answer appears to be “not much.” Bloom recaps the events of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, when Zachary Comstock unveiled his creation of the floating city Columbia. It also goes into more detail about Comstock, his motivations, and the events which led to Columbia’s disappearance from the public eye.

It’d be interesting if Irrational Games makes more “Truth from Legend” videos about Columbia, Comstock, or other items from the game’s world, but for now we’ll have to be content with the mysteries Columbia left behind.
