Nintendo Network IDs restricted to original Wii U

nintendo network logo 298x300 Nintendo Network IDs restricted to original Wii UNintendo Support has confirmed that Nintendo Network IDs, the revolutionary step away from Friend Codes, will be locked to the Wii U console they were originally registered to. This means that you will be unable to access your account on a different console, or transfer it to a new console. You know, something PSN and XBL accounts have been able to do since forever.

Though there is a vague statement on the the Support page saying, “A Nintendo Network Account can only be used on the console where it was created. In the future, you will be able to use your Nintendo Network Account with future Nintendo consoles and other devices, such as PC’s.”

Previously, it was confirmed that the Nintendo 3DS may support Nintendo Network IDs in a handheld update, though no word as to when this will occur. Or for what purpose you’d want your ID on PC … At this time, the Wii U will support up to 12 Nintendo Network IDs, though as was discovered this weekend, you will have to fork over a whopping $.50 to grant online access to Minor accounts.

It’s been out for two days and people wanna transfer their shit over… That’s why patches and stuff exist.
