Unlimited Ammo #43: The Misfit Toy Hour

This week, VGW’s Unlimited Ammo podcast finds Russell, Jim, Jen and Scott discussing the epic the Freddy vs. Jason fight that is EA vs. Zynga, complete with references to Tremors. Scott begs listeners to send him any evidence of Windows 8 being as closed as developers are worried about, while Russell and Jen discuss the “Dawnguard” DLC for Skyrim.

The group further explores the increasing presence of Hollywood talent in video game voice roles as part of Jen’s disappointment of the week (listen for that jingle!). But most importantly, nary a word is said about Nintendo. Or Beyonce. Yeah, you’re welcome.

About Jen Bosier

Jen lives with her husband, daughter and super-villain kitty. An avid gamer since the Atari, she honed her skills on Doom 2, Daggerfall and System Shock. Great episode once again. With regard to Jen’s thoughts on the voice cast of Dishonoured I would add that my concern about Hollywood actors doing the voice work is that, unlike those that specialise in voice work, they have no stake in making a good product. The Hollywood talent merely has to turn up, spit out their lines as fast as possible and grab the cash. I’m not saying all Hollywood actors would do this but it is a possibility and if so will detract from the game and could affect review scores. However, as much a fan as I am of Nolan North it would be great if someone else voiced Corvo!
